Safe Life Oregon brings together firearm retailers, federally licensed firearm dealers, shooting ranges, gun clubs, veterans, first responders, and community organizations to help prevent firearm suicide and keep Oregon families safe. Our partners provide voluntary, temporary firearm-storage options, share practical safety resources, and connect people with respectful support during times of crisis, transition, travel, or other circumstances when firearms should not remain in the home.

For Retailers and FFLs
Firearm retailers and FFLs play an important role in suicide prevention and in protecting the future of firearm ownership in Oregon. Nearly 80% of firearm deaths in Oregon are suicides, and many occur during short-term crises. Providing temporary, voluntary firearm storage gives individuals and families a safe option during difficult times while respecting firearm ownership and Second Amendment rights.
Safe Life Oregon supports participating storage partners by offering stipends to help offset costs, which may include items such as gun safes, secure storage equipment, and background check fees. Storage partners are also promoted statewide through the Safe Life Oregon website, outreach materials, and partnerships with public health, veteran organizations, law enforcement, and community groups.
